Charlie Ruiz will take back resignation

On Tuesday afternoon the Eagle Pass News-Gram was informed by Police Chief Antonio Castañeda, that he had received a letter of resignation tendered by Charlie Ruiz who has worked in the department for 20 years stating that he had done so for 'personal reasons.' 
     This information ran like wildfire in the community due to the problems the city has with a case of fraud in recent days.
     Mr. Ruiz personally contacted The News-Gram to inform us that he indeed had turned in said letter which was to be effective at the end of March, however he has been taken aback by rumors that have resulted due to the timing of his resignation.
     He says that as soon as he was done speaking to our publication, he was going to take back his resignation due to the fact that for 20 years he has dedicated himself completely to the department and that these rumors make him look bad in the public eye.  
     "People seem to think that I have something to do with the fraud case which is under investigation by the city.  I am not going to resign until the investigation closes because I do not want my name to be mentioned from mouth to mouth.  When this situation clears, I will resign because I have other plans for my future."
