Comes to a successful close with auction
The 2012 Maverick County Junior Livestock Show came to a close on Saturday with the auction of livestock at the MCJLS Showbarn. The Grand Champion Steer was awarded to Jesse James De La Cruz. The steer sold at $9,500.00 and was purchased by the Dos Republicas Mining Firm.
The Grand Champion Lamb went to Daniela Molina who sold her prize medium wool for $6,750.00 and was purchased by Del Rio Ford.
Ernest Molina was awarded the honor of showing the Grand Champion Goat (Boer goat) which sold for the grand total of $4,800.00 and was purchased by Ancira Ford of Eagle Pass.
Finally, the Grand Champion Hog was raised and showed by Nayla Telles who sold her animal for the grand total of $5,750.00 and was purchased by Aguila Construction of Eagle Pass.
In the Reserved categories, the Reserve Grand Champion Steer went to David Ramos and was sold for $3,700.00. Remnant Home Health Services had the honor of winning the auction for this animal.
The Reserve Grand Champion Goat went to Hayden Carcasi and was purchased by Ancira Ford Mercury for the grand total of $2,000.00.
HEB purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Lamb raised by Daniel Rios for the amount of $4,500.00.
Local Attorney Alfonso Nevarez had the honor of bidding for the right to purchase the Grand Champion Hog raised by Trisha Rodriguez for the amount of $4,250.00.
