Consulate begins search for Mexico/US delegate

The Mexican Consulate of Eagle Pass is initiating a selection process for a new delegate for
the Instituto de Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME), to substitute Mr. Roberto Ruiz, who has complied with his 3 years of service. In a press conference, Consulate Ricardo Santana, accompanied by Maria Elena Daniel and professor Roberto Ruiz asked the community to participate in the search of a new candidate.
In order to choose the adequate delegate, a committee has been set up by Rosa Aguirre of the City of Eagle Pass, Mary Velazquez-City Secretary, Sandra Martinez, Maria Elena Daniel, former delegate of IME- Facundo Ibarra, and Rito Valdez- member of the Board of Directors for the Hospital District.
Registration for candidacy begins this Wednesday, June 9 and ends August 26, 2011. The first delegate was Maria Elena Daniel. Mr. Santana said that
she and Mr. Ruiz did a great job during their tenure. Roberto Ruiz, who works as the assistant to Maverick County Judge Saucedo, said that one of the requisites to participate is to be a citizen of the United States but also of Mexican origin and to have pride of their Mexican culture.
Another pre-requisite for this position is to have the ability to Travel; there are 2 annual trips to Mexico with the delegates of the IME.This program to establish Mexican Representatives in the Exterior was initiated by Mexican President Vicente Fox, and designed to have direct contact with the needs of Mexican citizens in the United States

El Consulado de Mexico en Eagle Pass dio a conocer que inició el proceso para elegir a nivel local al nuevo delegado del Instituto de Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME), que sustituya al profesor Roberto Ruiz, que cumplió su periodo de 3 años en el cargo.
En rueda de prensa, el Consul Ricardo Santana,acompañado de Maria Elena Daniel y el profesor Roberto Ruiz pidieron a la comunidad participar en este proceso para elegir a la persona adecuada se ha formado un Comité integrado por: Rosa Aguirre, que trabaja para la ciudad de Eagle Pass; Mary Velazquez, secretaria de la ciudad; Sandra Martinez; Maria Elena Daniel, profesora del colegio Sul Ross, y ex delegada del IME; Facundo Ibarra,Veterano de Guerra;y Rito Valdez, integrante de la Mesa Directiva del Distrito del Hospital.
