LADY MAVERICKS
C.C. Winn High School’s varsity soft- ball team locked up the second position in
District 29-5A after defeat- ing Laredo United South 5-3 this past Tuesday. The Lady Mavericks scored two runs in the second inning and three in the third while acquiring 11 hits and com- mitting three errors.
In the second inning, Aimee Ramirez singled and then stole second base. A hit by Analaura Perez, and a miscue by United South, allowed her to make it to second base while Ramirez scored. A sacrifice bunt by Rosemary Hernandez advanced Perez to third and a sacrifice fly by Natalie Garcia allowed her to reach home plate.
Krystal Contreras (win- ning pitcher) belted a triple in the third inning and was
then brought home on a dou- ble by Dulce Vasquez. Vasquez later touched home off of a single by Perez. Ramirez reached home on a single by Hernandez.
Leading batters for the Lady Mavericks were Aimee Ramirez (three for three), Krystal Contreras (three for four), Dulce Vasquez (two for four and a run batted in), Rosemary Hernandez (one for two with two runs batted in), Analaura Perez (one for three with an rbi) and Ronnie Valdez (one for four).
Prior to Tuesday, C.C. Winn beat Laredo United 12-7 in nine innings on Friday, April 15. The Lady Mavericks scored a run in the second inning, another in the fourth, two in the sixth, three in the seventh and five in the ninth. CCWN put together seventeen hits and committed four errors.
Aimee Ramirez went four for six from the plate. Krystal Contreras (winning pitcher) went three for five
