School Board Sticks to its Guns and says No to Footbal Players

The EPISD school board reached a decision on Friday afternoon regarding the future eligibility of the group of Eagle Pass High School Football team players that were cited several weeks ago by the Eagle Pass Police Department. Although the charges were adjusted to a lesser degree, the school board decided to uphold its decision to restrict athletic participation for the full 60 days. Participants of extracurricular activities are asked to sign a handbook at the beginning of the year that dictates district eligibility policy. The 60 day suspension means that the football players, some of which are seniors, will sit out the rest of the football season.
